Susan Vitulli first joined the Public Health Institute (PHI) in 2003 and currently serves as Communication Specialist II. From 2003, she worked for 7 years as an Accounting Assistant III processing accounts payable transactions, travel claims, planning conferences, administering personnel paperwork, and reviewing contracts and budgets under the Network for a Healthy California SNAP-Ed program. In 2010, she moved to Boston, MA to attend graduate school and eventually made her way back to Sacramento. In 2013, she came back to PHI as a Marketing Specialist IV, overseeing execution of the statewide Power Play! Campaign, and conducting trainings and capacity building workshops as part of the Children & Youth team, including Harvest of the Month and Youth Engagement. She also stepped in as Program Coordinator on the Training and Resource Center contract for the San Francisco Bay Area region with NEOPB. She left PHI to join Food Literacy Center as Program Director in 2015, where she developed strategy to scale food literacy into more schools, designed and managed all the administrative functions of a federal AmeriCorps grant, and supervised 13 new Corps members. Susan has over 14 years of experience in nonprofit and public health programming, including nearly 10 years of experience with PHI. She studied Health Communication towards a master’s from Emerson College, in collaboration with Tufts University School of Medicine, and studied Intercultural Communication for her bachelor’s degree from California State University, Sacramento.
