Betty Sun, MS, RD, serves as a Program Manager at the Public Health Institute’s Center for Wellness and Nutrition (PHI CWN). Her work focuses on advancing nutrition security, promoting access to healthy food, and implementing initiatives such as Produce Prescriptions, Park Prescriptions, park and public health collaborations, and geo-spatial mapping and analysis.

Betty brings extensive experience from previous roles at PHI CWN and the University of California Nutrition Policy Institute. She led state-level social marketing campaigns including the Children’s Power Play! Campaign and Worksite Program. Betty provided training and technical assistance for the Communities of Excellence in Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity Prevention program and supported local health departments in policy, systems, and environmental change evaluation through Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program-Education (SNAP-Ed) initiatives with the California Department of Public Health.

Most recently, at the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy – Institute at the Golden Gate, Betty contributed to the creation of the ParkRx.org resource hub and facilitated learning communities with the Healthy Parks, Healthy People: Bay Area collaborative.

Betty earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Community Nutrition from Cornell University and is committed to advancing public health through innovative programs and partnerships.

Outside of work, her passions are the same as they are at work: parks and produce. You’ll find her at the farmers market, eating and cooking good local food, wrangling her unwieldly tomato plants, or hiking in the mountains.
