Client:
Sacramento County Obesity Prevention Program
Location:
Sacramento, CA

Overview:
Building on the success of our Healthy Retail Program, we launched a six-week cooking class series using the “Cooking Matters” curriculum. These classes, offered in both English and Spanish, empowered participants to make smarter shopping decisions, effectively use nutrition information, and prepare affordable, nutritious meals. Through strategic partnerships with community organizations and school districts, we were able to reach eligible community sites across the county. Additionally, the program highlighted participating Healthy Retail Program stores to encourage participants to shop locally.

Impact:
The Cooking Matters curriculum provided participants with the knowledge and skills to make healthier food choices, improve their cooking abilities, and practice effective budgeting. By collaborating with community-based organizations, we expanded access to nutrition education and services, ensuring a greater impact on individuals and families across the county.
