Southeast Region (SER) SNAP-Ed Racial Equity and Workforce Assessment
Overview:
From FFY 2022 to 2024, our team partnered with three states in the Southeast Region to enhance racial equity within SNAP-Ed programs. In FFY 2022, we conducted a formative evaluation to identify strategies for prioritizing racial equity within the SNAP-Ed Evaluation Framework. In FFY 2023, we implemented a survey targeting SNAP-Ed eligible participants and facilitated feedback sessions to assess equitable practices in SNAP and SNAP-Ed. These efforts provided actionable recommendations for improving food and nutrition security through SNAP-Ed programming. Currently, in FFY 2024, we are conducting a comprehensive workforce assessment of racial equity across implementing agencies, guided by ASNNA’s Principles to Embed Equity in SNAP-Ed and the PRAXIS Standard of Equity.
Impact:
SNAP-Ed serves thousands annually, promoting healthy eating and active living. Achieving equitable service delivery and improving health outcomes for all requires intentional, continuous efforts to update and transform policies, practices, systems, and structures. This project underscores our commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable approach within SNAP-Ed programs, ensuring that all communities benefit from these vital services.
