Spotlighting the Campaign: The Open Minds Project

Youth leadership. Mental health. Speaking out.

The Open Minds Project, developed by San Ysidro Health through the Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative – Community Alliances for Local Impact (CYBHI CALI) grant, seeks to challenge stigma and encourage young people to openly discuss mental, emotional, and behavioral (MEB) health. Through school and community events, social media, a podcast, and outreach materials, the campaign promotes the message “Silence Isn’t Strength,” inspiring youth to share their experiences and access support.

Focusing on adolescents ages 13–17 and young adults/transitional age youth between 18–25, the campaign builds awareness, fosters confidence, and equips participants with practical tools to engage with mental health resources and peer support.
