Karla Fernandez is currently a Project Coordinator for the Public Health Institute’s Center for Wellness and Nutrition. As a Project Coordinator, she helps her team ensure active and prospective projects launch in the most effective way to aid in improving population health.
Before PHI, however, she had a range of experience in the health and wellness industry. From personal training to interning at the CalWIC Association, to health coaching, Karla has always had the drive to mitigate the health equity gap by helping people build sustainable, healthy habits.
Additionally, Karla obtained her Bachelor of Science in Clinical Nutrition from the University of California, Davis. To further enhance her education, she decided to pursue her Master of Arts in Health and Digital Communication from Johns Hopkins University.
That said, she can marry her degrees to provide the most optimal health strategies for ongoing campaigns to successfully encourage long building healthy habits amongst individuals.
When she is not working, she loves to use her spare time to cook, try out new restaurants, travel, power lift, paint, and dance salsa/bachata.
