Public Health Institute’s Center for Wellness and Nutrition team of global technical staff brings decades of experience – and evidence across sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, and Latin America. We are passionate and committed to collaborating with local partners and communities to sustainably improve families’ nutrition, health, and resilience in the United States and globally. The Global Nutrition and Partnerships leadership team is comprised of:
Raissa Sorgho, MScIH, PhD
Director of Global Nutrition and Partnerships
Dr. Raissa Sorgho is a global health specialist with over 10 years of experience in research and development. Her expertise spans health (nutrition and heat) to climate change (adaptation and sustainability) and policy (review and implementation), with an emphasis on evidence-based decision-making using participatory and mixed-method research. Dr. Sorgho has spent 5 years in Europe, 10 years in Africa, and 15 years in the United States, developing, implementing, and evaluating programs ranging from community mobilization workshops on women empowerment to cross-continental randomized control trials on climate-sensitive nutrients.
Cassie Chandler, MPH
Assistant Director of Global Nutrition and Partnerships
Cassie Chandler has worked in the global health sector for approximately 20 years, learning from diverse roles including technical advisor, trainer, curriculum designer, and program director. Much of her career and experience has been dedicated to working and collaborating across sectors to sustainably improve household and community resilience among marginalized, rural populations in low- and middle-income countries. Cassie has lived and worked in Latin America, Africa, and Asia, and collaborated with various local partners in the health, nutrition, and financial inclusion sectors to drive demand for health services and address food insecurity. Cassie holds a Master’s degree in Public Health and speaks fluent Spanish.
Michael Dimock, MA
Roots of Change, Executive Director
Michael Dimock has a Master’s degree in International Affairs from Columbia University. His international development experience was the subsistence farmers and fishers in Nepal. His experience organizing citizen diplomacy and film and television content development was in the former USSR. His agricultural research and commodities marketing experience has been in Central America, Spain, and The Netherlands.
